Something commonly seen in most modern suspension bridges is the use of trusses underneath the deck of the bridge. Trusses are are triangle structure used in order to strengthen a bridge.Triangles are the strongest shape and this is why they are used to help hold up a bridges weight. Trusses help a bridge by dissipating the compression and tension forces which allow for bridges to be more rigid. In suspension bridges trusses are found to be lined up under the deck for that extra support. Since the deck is constantly being tensed by the suspender cables.
